“Thank You for Calling!” Christmas is the perfect time to find a work-from-home customer service job!

Have you noticed how busy delivery companies are this time of year? FedEx and UPS trucks seem to be on every street. In fact, they have hired extra delivery helpers just for the season to keep up with the rush of orders
placed by people who do their Christmas shopping from the comfort of their homes.

Before those orders hit the delivery trucks, however, they have to be placed.  And this means great job opportunities for customer service professionals who want to work from home. Below are five Contact Centers that hire virtual customer service agents. (Please check each one for available hiring locations.)

APAC Customer Services, Inc.
Some of what you’ll be doing:

  • Resolving customer questions, complaints, and requests.
  • Providing pricing and delivery information, and processes orders.
  • Recording and verify names, addresses, purchases, and specific feedback of customers to maintain an accurate customer list.
  • Entering all data into computer.
  • Educating and/or selling the client’s product or service to the customer.
  • Contacting customers to gather market research.

Some of what you’ll be doing:

  • Answering in-bound customer service calls. Custom software allows calls to be routed directly to your home computer via the internet, so we don’t tie up a dedicated phone line. Some of what you’ll be doing:

  • Order fulfillment, inbound sales, and customer care solutions for consumer direct marketers and mass channel companies.

Home Shopping Network (HSN)

Some of what you’ll be doing:

  • Responsible for promoting sales and upsells – offer alternatives, and closes sales while maintaining rapport with customers.
  • Taking personal initiative to achieve goals and objectives.
  • Receptive to coaching and eager to implement developmental suggestions for improving performance.
  • Remaining highly engaged in a team environment through team meetings, instant messaging and use of email.

Some of what you’ll be doing:

  • Obtaining, entering and verifying customer information.
  • Answering customer questions and resolving issues.
  • Explaining sales features or offering additional products or services.


Besides having a background in order fulfillment and/or customer service, you will also need:

  • A dedicated work area at their home with no distractions.
  • Reliable personal computer (minimum specs to be decided by individual hiring company).
  • Broadband internet connection; cable, DSL and T1 connections are preferred.
  • Applicants can have either Windows XP or Vista, but must have Internet Explorer 6 or Internet Explorer 7.
  • Must have a PC (no MACs).
  • Successful applicants will have good written communication skills.
